PRONOSTICS
Pronostics is a new and revolutionary medical diagnostics company formed by the merger of SmartBead Technologies Ltd (SBT) and FingerPrint Diagnostics Ltd (FPD) in June 2006. The combination of two advanced technologies makes possible and accelerates the availability of an entirely new class of medical diagnostics, ‘pronostics’, also known as IVD multivariate index assays by the US FDA, based on multiplexed biological profiling. A number of large multinational companies, including General Electric and Becton-Dickinson, have publicly stated their desire to dominate the biological profiling market once appropriate technological solutions have been proven. Pronostics has robust and scaleable profiling technologies and solutions today!
Pronostics’ mission is to revolutionise the provision of clinical diagnostics by introducing rapid, cost-effective IVD solutions to measure hundreds or thousands of analytes simultaneously, providing safe and reliable diagnostics for diseases where it is currently difficult or impossible to do so.
UltraPlex™ BARCODES MOLECULES
Multiplexing - performing multiple assays simultaneously – provides a genuine ‘more for less’ solution for improving productivity whilst generating significant cost savings in the clinical diagnostics and pharmaceutical R&D markets.
Pronostics' UltraPlex™ technology takes the gold standard of barcoding to the molecular level and enables robust multiplexed biomarker detection assays. The validated assays include analytes tagged by barcoded microparticles for simultaneous tracking and analysis of multiple tests. UltraPlex™ provides faster patient diagnosis and experimental results, the generation of more information from each sample and decreased labour, sample and reagent usage.
UltraPlex™ has moved the barcode from the reagent bottle to the reagent.

Pronostics has established and implemented a system of quality in line with ISO 13485:2003 international standards, and was awarded ISO Certification for the “design and manufacture of multiplex assaying systems for in vitro diagnostic and other life science applications” on 5th August 2004.
